On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, the BCTA Board of Directors approved the transition of the Fast Forward Summer Pass to the BCTA Student Pass. This change will affect several aspects of the program, allowing those ages 6-21 to enjoy the benefits of public transit all year.
What is Changing?
- Addition of reduced fare ($1 per trip) from September 1 to May 31 of the next year
- June 1 - August 31 will remain free of charge
- Name change from Fast Forward Summer Pass to BCTA Student Pass
- New pass design each year
- Former applicants will no longer be required to reapply every year
How Will It Work?
2024-2025 Pass
- All 2024 Summer Passes will remain effective until the next application period and will not need to take any action to be eligible for the extension.
- If you already have a Summer Pass, please keep it as we are unable to reissue them for the extension
- New applications will be accepted for the 2024-2025 pass until May 1, 2025.
- All 2024-2025 passes will no longer be valid starting May 31, 2025.
2025-2026 Pass
- The application period for the 2025-2026 period will begin on May 1, 2025.
- Any rider who has applied the previous year and is still eligible based on their date of birth will automatically receive their pass in the mail.
- If the rider selected to pick up the pass at the Rochester Transportation Center, the next year pass will be ready for pickup starting May 1, 2025.
- Eligible 2025-2026 riders must be younger than 22 years of age as of June 1, 2025.
- An email will be sent to all current Summer Pass Riders including a form to update their mailing address or change to pick up instead.
